This is in response to parental feedback that the option of video calls was very much appreciated, whilst others would prefer to be in person. To enable this to work effectively we have blocked together the appointment opportunities: Video appointments will be between 4 – 4.50pm, In person appointments will be between 5 – 6.55pm. We are unable to do video appointments outside of the designated time due to the normal [...]

2023-02-17T12:56:40+00:00

Bishops Castle Round and About Walks have been successfully running for over a decade. This fantastic annual walking event is organised by Jean Shirley.  All funds raised to date have been donated to Blood Cancer UK - a total of £78,600! Jean is an active supporter of the Community College at Bishops Castle and has been a governor for over 10 years.  She has invited CCBC Friends to join her and help run the Round and About Walks as a joint enterprise from 2023 onwards - sharing the responsibility and proceeds equally. This is an incredible opportunity for CCBC Friends.  Our [...]

You will no doubt be aware that members of the NEU have called strikes that will take place across a number of days, 1st February, 1st March, 15th March and 16th March 2023. I am writing to inform you that the school has a number of teachers who are members of this union, and as such we are anticipating some disruption to the normal school day, but I can confirm that the school will remain open. Staff not participating in the industrial action will be working in school on the day of the strike as normal; however, teachers are normally instructed [...]

PE Equipment Update for January 2023

2022-12-16T15:44:48+00:00

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and clarify a few expectations regarding PE lessons. I have had the pleasure to work at The Community College since September and have been delighted to see how students approach their PE lessons with enthusiasm and commitment. From January I will be moving to the role of Subject Lead of PE. Therefore, I thought it important to clarify a few of our expectations moving forward. Although the majority of the students’ kit is excellent, sadly during most lessons anywhere from 1-5 students may have forgotten kit as a whole or specific [...]

Adjustments to the day for World Cup games

2022-10-21T12:57:18+01:00

You may be aware the World Cup will be taking place in Qatar from the 20th November. From the home nations countries both England and Wales have qualified and will be competing in the same group. As part of giving our students the opportunity to participate in wider cultural activities as a group we are reorganising the day for the two group games involving England and Wales that occur during the school day. We feel it is important to do this for both of the home nations involved as the demographic of our school is very much 50% English and 50% [...]

Best School in Shropshire

2022-10-21T12:56:09+01:00

With the national education data being published yesterday I thought that you would appreciate being made aware of how effective the staff and school have been over the last two years. The progress data for schools in Shropshire indicate that The Community College is comfortably the highest performing school. We are immensely proud of the clearly evident difference that we make to the students who attend this school and we are delighted with this achievement. Letter from the Headteacher
