A warm welcome to the Governors’ page of The Community College website.
We hope this page gives you a better understanding of who we are, and what we do to support the College and hold it to account for what it does and achieves. Our governors are all volunteers. They come from a variety of backgrounds and can therefore count on a wide range of experience and expertise to support their work. We have governors with backgrounds in farming, finance, information technology, management, retail, education and local government. Some governors are sole traders or run small businesses and the majority of governors are parents, with about a quarter currently having children at the College. The Full Governing Body and its sub-committees, ‘Curriculum and Welfare’ and ‘Resources and Personnel’, all meet at least once a term to help steer the work of the College and monitor all aspects of its provision. Governors also have a more informal hands-on roles; linking with particular subjects or wider aspects of College life such as Special Educational Needs and are often seen in College during the working day.
Governors know we are privileged to have an excellent team of staff who continue to innovate and improve their teaching, and strive to meet the academic and pastoral needs of every student on a daily basis. We are confident that the College will continue to move from strength to strength and, in partnership with parents and carers, continue to help all of our young people to “develop the necessary skills and attributes to be the best that they can be”.

Categories of Governor
There are different categories of Governor.
Parent Governors
Parent Governors are elected by the parents of all students who are registered at the school. When a vacancy occurs, parents are informed by email or a letter from the Headteacher is sent home and nominations are invited.
Staff Governors
The staff governor is elected by colleagues. The Headteacher is also a Governor.
Co-opted Governors
Co-opted governors are appointed by the Local Governing body and Trust because they come from a specialist group, such as the business community or because they possess a particular skill which can contribute to the governing body.
All Governors have the same responsibilities and an equal say on the Governing body
