A partnership between the Community College, Bishops Castle and Macechu Secondary School Tanzania has existed for more than 12 years. During that time, we have run student and teacher visits, fund raising for individual students in need, infrastructure projects and staff exchanges, leading to the development of cultural awareness, teaching and learning ideas, improved educational outcomes and lasting student friendships.
Student Visits
Over the last few years around 80 CCBC students have visited Macechu. We travel via Kilimanjaro Airport near Moshi, by bus to Tanga, where we stay in a Catholic Hostel. We are well looked after by our hosts at Macechu, and students enjoy working in the school and getting to know their Tanzanian peers. We visit local landmarks, go snorkelling in the Indian Ocean and visit the Ngorongoro Crater National Park.
