Year 7 parents and carers are invited to this year’s Year 7 Settling in Evening. It is an ideal opportunity to speak to the staff involved in supporting your child. Following updated statutory guidance from the Department for Education (Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026), all schools are now legally required to operate as mobile phone-free environments by default throughout the entire school day. To comply with this national statutory requirement, our school policy has been updated: Storage: If students choose to bring a mobile phone to school (for example, for their journey to and from school), it must be switched off and kept inside their school bag at all times while on school grounds. Following the communication issued yesterday, we can confirm that the KS4 Awards Evening scheduled for this evening is postponed due to the high temperatures anticipated in the school hall as a result of current weather conditions. After reviewing the school calendar, we have rescheduled the event to take place on Wednesday 1st July at 6:30pm. If you and your child received an invitation to the original event, we kindly request that you confirm your attendance for the revised date by contacting the school at your earliest convenience. We very much look forward to celebrating your child’s achievements with you.

Due to the current hot weather conditions that would cause the Hall to do its best impression of a working oven, it has become necessary to postpone the KS4 Awards Evening on Thursday 25th June. We will look at whether we can reorganise the evening to occur as normal on an alternative date as it would be our preference to celebrate the achievements of our students in person. Due to the current prolonged hot weather conditions, we have made the decision to close school early today, Wednesday 24th June, and the same for Thursday 25th and Friday 26th June. School will close to students at 1.15pm for the remainder of the week. Students being collected by parents/carers should not be collected before 1.15pm, to allow us to manage dismissal safely and in an orderly way. We are planning to enable the Parents’ Evening to be a hybrid of in person and video calls via School Cloud. This is in response to parental feedback that the option of video calls was very much appreciated, whilst the majority would prefer to be in person. To enable this to work effectively we have blocked together the appointment opportunities: Video appointments will be between 4 – 4.15pm, In person appointments will be between 4.20 – 6.55pm. We are unable to do video appointments outside of the designated time due to the normal logistics of a Parents’ Evening. The school utilises [...]

CCBC Friends, The Community College’s PTA, is running a raffle to raise funds on behalf of the College. There are numerous excellent prizes available including four passes to West Midlands Safari Park, Four tickets to The Climbing Hut in Shrewsbury, a hamper full of goodies and many more. I am sure that you are aware of the weather conditions that are expected across the country from Thursday evening through to Friday morning. The local authority has cancelled all school transport on Friday 9th January due to the expected conditions. As a result the school will be closed on Friday  9th January to all students and staff. Students will be set remote learning for the day according to their timetable. They will be able to access this via Go4Schools.
