Bishops Castle Round and About Walks have been successfully running for over a decade. This fantastic annual walking event is organised by Jean Shirley. All funds raised to date have been donated to Blood Cancer UK – a total of £78,600!

Jean is an active supporter of the Community College at Bishops Castle and has been a governor for over 10 years. She has invited CCBC Friends to join her and help run the Round and About Walks as a joint enterprise from 2023 onwards – sharing the responsibility and proceeds equally.
This is an incredible opportunity for CCBC Friends. Our children, the students of the college, benefit directly from all money raised by the Friends group. In the last 2 years the money raised has funded new outside communal shelters for students to enjoy at break times, new table tennis tables, access to the Duke of Edinburgh schemes and more besides. With money raised by this new partnership we will fund, amongst other things, new outside seating for students and, working with CCBC and students, enhance the canteen offer – with great nutrition and value as core aims.
As parents, carers, teachers and wider community we are all part of CCBC Friends group.
How can we help make this new venture a success?
Join the walk on any day between May 16th – 29th! Find out how, through our brand-new website – https://ccbcshropshire.com/ccbc-friends-roundandabout/
Encourage friends and family to join the walk too! We’re open for entries from March 1st.
Volunteer to help with a task to support the event –
- Checking or clearing the route, with someone who has done it before
- Installing or checking arrows, again with someone who has done it before
- Putting up posters
- Sharing information on social media; possibly with the help of your children – it is for them, after all!
