It is with great disappointment that we have seen a significant increase in the number of positive Covid19 cases within both the student and staff population in the last week. Cases have increased from 3 student cases last Monday on the return from half term break to 36 student cases today. That equates to a 1,100% increase in 7 days.
As a result, we will need to step up and reinforce the Covid19 measures in school for at least the next two weeks. These will involve:
- The wearing of face coverings at all times when in buildings. This includes in classrooms.
- The wearing of face coverings during lesson changeovers, in the canteen and on school transport.
- The reintroduction of in school testing when staffing allows.
- The continuation of increased cleaning protocols in school.
- Continued access to regular use of hand sanitiser by staff and students.
- Ventilation of classrooms and corridors.
If the number of staff being affected continues to increase and we find that we have insufficient staff to cover requirements in the school, we may need to consider the introduction of remote learning for specific year groups.
Home testing for Covid19 – All students have recently been provided with a new box of home test kits. It is important that everyone carries out home testing at least twice a week before coming to school. if your child tests positive for Covid19 they should remain at home and not attend school to protect other students and staff from possible infection. After 5 days, they can take a Lateral Flow Device test followed by another the next day – if both are negative, and they do not have a temperature, they can safely return to school.
If your child is exhibiting symptoms of Covid19 then they should carry out an LFD test to check if they are positive or not, before attending school.
Please stay safe and well, if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
