During the recent Year 10 Parents’ Evening many parents and carers completed a short survey providing the school with some feedback. Thank you to everyone who completed and submitted that survey.

One question referred to the school making you aware of what your child is learning during the year. Based on the response to that question I thought it would be useful to point you in the direction of where that information is available to all parents and carers.

To support parents and carers awareness of what their child is learning during the year the school has a detailed “Learning Journey” available on the school website under Curriculum for each subject we deliver in school.

They look like this:

These “Learning Journeys” provide an illustration of the curriculum and skills that your child will be covering in each subject. Referring to these will enable you to ascertain what topic areas and skills your child has been doing and will be moving onto throughout the year.

Some of the “Learning Journeys” are interactive and contain links to tasks and follow up work. This is because they are being used with the students to support their ownership of revisiting and reviewing their understanding of topics already covered. It can also give them the opportunity to look ahead at what they will be covering as a part of a flipped learning approach.

The Learning Journeys are available on the website as individual subjects or as two documents with subjects grouped according to the format of their presentation.

We hope that you find these as useful.
