Year 10 Mock Interviews & Work Experience 2025

As you are aware all Year 10 students will be on work experience for two weeks from the 28th April to 9th May 2025, post Easter holidays. In the build up to this exciting experience Year 10 will have updated their CVs, had them checked by their Learning Coaches and will be ready to participate in mock style interviews, with a range of providers and employers on 3rd April – an activity that runs every academic year in the school hall. This is a non-uniform day, that requires smart dress (no jeans) and a printed CV; all students will receive feedback on their performance, organisation and presentation postevent.

All students will also take part in a range of activities over the next few weeks, which will help prepare them for the “World of Work” and post 16 opportunities; including a post 16 presentation from Shrewsbury College Group on 3rd April, IAG on Monday 7th April and a range of bespoke coaching activities which include: Health and Safety at Work, Behaviour at Work and advice on how to compete their Unifrog Journals.

You can support your child by doing the following thing:
1. Checking their Unifrog accounts regularly to ensure that placement providers have completed all paperwork.
2. Contacting the placement provider over the Easter holidays to confirm starting details, expectations etc.
3. Reviewing their CV and discussing your interview experiences.
4. Discussing their ideas and aspirations for the future.
5. The College website and student Unifrog accounts are also an excellent source of information.

Important Information: In the event of a work placement falling through, prior to the 28th April students will be expected to attend school, any illnesses or absences from placements must be reported daily, initially directly to the employer and then to the College by 8.50am. All employers / students will be contacted by their Learning Coaches during their placement, however if you  have any significant concerns, please contact Miss Newbold the College’s Work Experience Co-ordinator.
